Everest Base Camp lies on the elevation of 5,364 m (17,598 ft) and is the most popular Everest Base Camp with more than 35,000 trekkers arriving every year. While there is a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla Airport, you can also trek from Lukla to the Everest Base Camp.
To reach Everest Base Camp you climb through Namche Bazaar, 3,440 metres (11,290 ft), to Dingboche, 4,260 metres (13,980 ft) and reach Everest Base Camp via Gorakshep.
Most of the trekkers to Everest Base Camp prefer to trek via the Tengboche monastery, but recently the high trail via Mong La and Phortse is also highly acclaimed due to their excellent views.
On 25 April 2015, Due to the 7.8 earthquake in Nepal, the second one of a 7.3 hectares earthquake on 12 May, which lead to an avalanche on Pumori, and the death of more than 15 trekkers, it was announced on 17 June 2022, that the Everest Base Camp with move 200-400m lower. Another reason for the lowering of the Everest Base Camp may also be the high melting of the Khumbu Glacier.
