Chitwan National Park- a short introduction

Chitwan National Park is a tourist hotspot and the most popular National Park in Nepal. It lies in the Bagmati Province of Nepal near the city of Bharatpur. Established in 1973, it is the first national park in Nepal and was listed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1984.

Chitwan National Park has 50 mammal species, over 525 birds, and 55 amphibians and reptiles. This Chitwan National Park is most famous due to its preservation of more than 300 one-horned rhinos and more than 100 royal Bengal tigers. It is also a tiger buffer zone. In addition, it also has many other species like monkeys, Four-horned antelope, Pangolin, Golden monitor lizard, Python, deer, gharial crocodiles and more than 500 species of birds.

Itinerary


  • We will be arriving in Chitwan from Kathmandu or Pokhara on this day. To arrive in Chitwan, you can either come by aeroplane or arrange a private vehicle. Our guide will be waiting for you at the airport or the bus stop. We will drive you to the Hotel.  You will take a short break/Lunch and discuss the upcoming programmes. We will also visit the tharu village and the Elephant Breeding Center. We will also see how meals for elephants are prepared.The center was created for the safety of domesticated animals. We will also see how the Elephant are fed and learn about their diets.

    Then we will have dinner and also watch the Tharu Cultural Program.

  • Today, after breakfast, we will be canyoning in Rapti River. The Rapti river has many gharial crocodiles around giving you a thrilling ride. Then, we will be going for a Jungle Walk. The jungle walk is accompanied by a experienced guide and forest ranger.After the Jungle Walk, we will be going to take a short break, returning to the Hotel and having lunch.

    After, Lunch, we will be doing a Jeep Safari. The Jeep Safari takes you to the full view of grasslands, rivers in forests and sal forests and the Gharial Hatchery Farm in the Park. We will also learn about how crocodile hatch and are released into the rivers.

    We will return to the Hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

     

  • After breakfast, we will be doing bird watching. Chitwan has many bird species like Cormorants, Lesser Adjutant Stork, Blue Indian Roller, Hornbills, Stor k billed Kingfishers, Grey headed Eagles, Ruby Cheeked Sunbird, Bengal Florican, Largetailed Night jar, Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Beaters & Lesser Florican etc. 

    We will take some rest before Lunch. After Lunch, we will be doing Elephant Safari. The Elephant Safari may not be the most luxurious and comfortable ride but it is one of your best experiences in Chitwan. We will also visit the elephant bathing center.

    Then, After Elephant Safari, we will be returning to the Hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.  The rest of the time after Elephant Safari is used for rest. You may also visit the local market in the evening.

  • We will spend our last day at Chitwan today. You may go to your next destination in Kathmandu, Pokhara or Lumbini. Or, you may enjoy other tours with us.
